It is the time of year in Louisiana when we celebrate Mardi Gras. The parades, the revelry, it all effects the entire City of New Orleans and the Marigny-Bywater is part of the festivities. You are asked to take part in this celebration, enjoy the parades, catch some beads and observe the traditions. The festivities began on January 6th but everything picks up the weekend before Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras). Starting on Wednesday, February 10th and ending on Tuesday, February 16th the city of New Orleans will have parades 3-4 times per day. You can find out more from the parade schedule at NOLA.com.

Before enjoying some or all of the final weekend of Mardi Gras you will need to do some research. What is this event? What is the history of Mardi Gras? Why is it so big in New Orleans and what other parts of world celebrate the same holiday? You will then make a blog post that documents your experience of Mardi Gras. After the historical research the blog post should focus on a specific aspect of the celebration that touched you. Explain this through photography, diagrams and text within a single blog posting.

Have fun and be safe.
